Cloud Cover Cannabis Cultivation Tour

On a quest to explore the finest in cannabis cultivation, the On Root team embarked on a tour of Cloud Cover Cannabis, a brand that's been nurturing excellence in the industry since 2017. With facilities spread across multiple states and a reputation for cleanliness and quality, Cloud Cover opened its doors to give us a special look into its sea of green.

The Arrival: Suiting Up for Cleanliness

Our tour began with a warm welcome from our friend Rachael Simons, the Wholesale Territory Manager for MA. After introductions to Joe Delude, the Director of Operations, we were ushered into the changing rooms. The commitment to cleanliness was immediately apparent, with footbaths, full-body mesh suits, and shoe covers. Joe informed us of some of the cleaning procedures that are taken before anyone ever crosses the threshold into the cultivation area, including dedicated employee showers! The anticipation was high, and we were ready to dive in.

The Control Room: Where Tech Meets Nature

We were then led to the system control room, where we met up with Zach Ballard, the Cultivation Manager. He introduced us to the robust systems that monitor and manage all the cultivation areas. He then led us to the water treatment/storage area where we were welcomed by two giant water tanks so massive that the room itself had to be built around them! These water tanks are filled with reverse osmosis water and act as a reservoir for the rest of the facility. This water is then fed to individual water tanks outside each cultivation room.

The Life Cycle: A Cannabis Rainforest

Zach guided us through various cultivation rooms, where we witnessed the life cycle of the plants, from seedlings to towering stocks. The warmth, the scent, and the meticulous organization felt like stepping into a cannabis wonderland. The attention to detail and the care for each plant were a testament to Cloud Cover's dedication to quality.

Operations and Manufacturing: Efficiency in Action

Joe, the mastermind behind operations, showed us the picking room and manufacturing areas. The efficiency of the employees, the synchronization between cultivation and production schedules, and the preparation of products were impressive. Joe walked us through every step the plant takes once it's ready to be harvested from picking, curing, and quality testing. The collaboration between Zach and Joe ensures that fresh products are being prepared every day, so you can receive the best product possible.

The Lab: Flavor Science Unleashed

In the concentrates manufacturing room, Kristen Przano, the Lab Manager, welcomed us into her world of badder, butter, terpenes, and more. The room felt like we were in a medical-grade lab. It was filled with high-tech equipment, chambers, freezers, and things far too dangerous to let us near. Her expertise and passion showed in the products she had out for us to view. The badder looked good enough to scoop and eat right out of the pan! (Seriously, don't do this).

Packaging and Final Thoughts: A Sweet Ending

At the end of the tour, Joe brought us to take a look at the sorting/packaging areas and then a delightful showcase of the final products. The journey through the facility, the insights into the cultivation process, and the standard of cleanliness made us appreciate the final product so much more.
